- Delete your custom domain
You can read through or click on a hyperlink to go directly to the section of your interest.
Adding a custom domain is available only for enterprise subscribers. |
|
Before you start, ensure that you can log in to your domain registrar account and that you have access to the CNAME records! |
1. Set up your custom domain
To set up your custom domain, start by enabling the feature in the Custom domain tab of the Branding settings. Click on the toggle below the header 2. Your custom domain.
A dialogue window will appear, where you enter the name of your custom domain. It can only contain the following elements:
- small letters
- numbers
- dash “-”
- dot “.”
The custom domain must contain a dot before the domain extension.
|
If you made a mistake or a typo, use the Delete option and start over the setup process. |
After you add a custom domain name, the setup process will begin. You will see that Setup: Step 1 is now active in Vicodo.
Log in to your domain registrar and add a CNAME DNS record. Then, copy the Name and Value from Vicodo Setup: Step 1 and paste them into the corresponding windows on your provider side.
|
As every domain registrar is set up differently, we recommend contacting your domain registrar support for questions directly related to managing the DNS settings on their website. |
After you finalize the setup on your domain registrar, go back to Vicodo. It may take a couple of minutes until the certificate is validated. Once it’s done, the Setup: Step 2 will be activated.
Add the second CNAME record to your domain registrar, the same way you did for Step 1.
|
Please note that the Name and Value differ from those displayed in Step 1! |
After you add the second record to your domain registrar, you can go back to Vicodo.
It may take up to 48h until the custom domain is deployed, however, it often happens within several minutes. Vicodo page refreshes automatically once the process is complete. You will see the updated status next to the name of your custom domain.
2. Edit your custom domain
If you want to edit your custom domain, go to the Custom domain tab of the Branding settings. Click on the Edit button next to your current custom domain name.
Remember that renaming your domain has the following consequences:
- Your Vicodo invitations and booking links will be no longer available at the address you are about to change.
- All of the email notifications that have been sent to users from your Vicodo domain will now contain broken links.
After you enter the edited name, click the Save button. The status displayed next to the new address will change to pending.
|
Optionally, you can remove CNAME records with the previous custom domain name from your domain registrar. However, this action is not required as it doesn't influence the current domain operation. |
You will now see the Setup: Step 1 of the configuration process. To finalize the editing, you have to follow the same steps as you did while creating the custom domain for the first time. Please go back to the previous article section: Set up your custom domain.
|
If you want to get back to using the custom domain you entered at first, make sure you remove the CNAME record relating to this domain and go through the process again. |
3. Disable your custom domain
To disable your custom domain go to the Custom domain tab of the Branding settings. Click on the toggle below the 2. Your custom domain header. The dialogue window will appear where you have to confirm your choice.
Remember that disabling your custom domain has the following consequences:
- Your Vicodo invitations and booking links will be no longer available at the domain you are about to disable.
- All of the email notifications that have been sent to users from your Vicodo domain will now contain broken links.
If you are sure you want to proceed, click the Yes, disable button.
After you disabled the custom domain, you have to wait a couple of minutes before you enable it once again.
|
If you decide to use your custom domain again, click on the toggle so it turns green. If you didn’t remove the CNAME record from your domain registrar, automatically your last custom domain will be connected. The process may take a while. |
4. Delete your custom domain
If you don’t want to use your custom domain and wish to remove the data permanently, you can use the Delete option instead of Disable. Also, if you made a typo while entering your address or the error occurred, you can delete the custom domain and start the setup process from the very beginning.
To delete your custom domain, go to the Custom domain tab of the Branding settings. Click the Delete button.
The dialogue window will appear where you have to confirm your choice. The process may take a while. If the subdomain is not deleted after 24h, you may contact our support.
